Training on Interpreting the Form 990-PF
The Mayor’s Office of Partnerships and Grants Development (OPGD) will host a training session on interpreting foundation tax returns—Form 990-PF.
These public documents are filled with important information that can help nonprofits and faith-based organizations in the search for funding and for making connections to foundations. From financials, to investments, to schedules and attachments, attendees will learn how to make sense of foundation reporting.
Kathy Jankowski, publisher of GrantsDirect, will lead this in-depth training program. She will also cover how to search GrantsDirect and demonstrate how to create a SnapShot Report based on searches. GrantsDirect is an on-line, subscriber-based service profiling more than 5,100 foundation donors nationwide, including 1,600 headquartered in Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Participants are encouraged to reinforce this part of the training by using the GrantsDirect database in OPGD’s Grants Information Resource Center (GIRC). The GIRC is a staffed computer center with access to funding research databases and the Internet, as well as a small library of printed materials.
This training will be held on October 7, 9 am-noon, at One Judiciary Square, 441 4th Street, NW, Room 1107 South, Washington, DC 20001. This event is free, but space is limited. To register by October 4, contact OPGD at (202) 727-8900 or faith.jones@dc.gov. The session is the second in a series of free research trainings offered jointly by OPGD and GrantsDirect. Although the sessions are free, registration is required. To register by October 4, contact OPGD at (202) 727-8900 or faith.jones@dc.gov. |
